What is PRP?

The platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy is a skin regeneration procedure, which helps rejuvenate the skin using the patient’s own blood. Growth factors present in the blood are used to promote the proliferation of new skin cells and the production of collagen and hyaluronic acid to facilitate the growth of epithelial cells, thereby healing wounds and scars. It can be injected into aging and sagging skin to regenerate skin tissues and plump up the skin.

Characteristics and Advantages of PRP

The use of one’s own blood ensures safety against infections and allergic reactions

Simple and short procedure Normal daily activities are possible immediately after the procedure Natural treatment effects Enhanced effectiveness when performed in combination with other therapeutic procedures such as laser treatment

Process and Principles of PRP Therapy

2. 3.

Collect patient’s blood

Separate and extract platelets Activate platelets Injected into the skin and/or scalp

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) contains growth factors such as PDGF, FGF, VEGF and TGF, which play the following roles and functions:

 Roles of Growth Factors

– Causes coagulation for restoration of damaged blood vessels and primary hemostasis action

– Activates skin cells for wound and scar healing

– Leads to formation of new tissues together with collagen bundles

– Promotes the characteristics of various tissues to increase the survival rate of new cells

– Stimulates stem cells to generate the cells that the body needs

Therapeutic Effects of PRP

Treatment of acne scars/marks

The activated growth factors inhibit excess secretion of sebum, which can cause acne, in order to prevent breakouts, and generate collagen and elastin fibers, which help fill in acne scars.

Anti-aging effects

The growth factors released by activated platelets draw stem cells and promote their growth. This in turn leads to the formation of collagen and elastin fibers, which helps improve skin elasticity and makes the skin healthy and rejuvenated from deep within.

Hair loss treatment

The growth factors from platelets and cytokines lead to regeneration of blood vessels in the scalp, promote the growth of hair follicles and skin cells, and regenerate damaged hair follicles as a way to treat hair loss.
